UpdatedLook on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter. There may be a CC or S.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 05/2010:

"CC" mint mark (Carson City):

Very worn condition - $1,530

Moderately worn - $1,840

Slightly worn - $1,880

Almost no wear - $2,908

Uncirculated - $5,200 to $25,990 depending on quality

"S" mint mark (San Francisco):

Very worn - $1,500

Moderately worn - $1,620

Slightly worn - $1,670

Almost no wear - $1,722

Uncirculated - $1,880 to $45,230

Philadelphia (no mint mark) only struck 1884 double eagle coins as proofs and they're considered to be very rare. As of 05/2010 retail prices range anywhere from $63,000 to $325,000 depending on quality.

A 1884 S (San Fransisco) mint mark, is valued from $1,000.-$1,500. . Remember coins are only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.
