Usually called a Liberty nickel, this design is unusual (and often confusing) because it used the Roman numeral V on the back to indicate its denomination, rather than the English word or letter.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 12/2009:

Very worn condition - $8

Moderately worn - $30

Slightly worn - $50

Almost no wear - $107

Uncirculated - $150-2340 depending on quality
