There were 2 types of half dollars minted in 1893. If your coin has a picture of Miss Liberty on the front and an eagle on the back, it's called a "Barber" half dollar after its designer, Charles Barber. If it says Columbian Exposition, it was issued to mark the 500th anniversary of Columbus' voyages; there's more information below.
Barber Design: Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter below the eagle. It may be blank or there may be an O or S.

This is what is called a Barber Half. As with all coins, its value heavily depends on the condition. This date is a more desirable date in the series. My guess in its value is in the $15-$26 range, as most of these are heavily worn. If you can see the word "Liberty" on the head below the leaves, then it would grade fine or better and you should take it to a local coin dealer for an appraisal as it will be worth about $55+.

Franklin halves were minted from 1948 to 1963. 1893 US half dollars carry a portrait of Miss Liberty, who resembles Franklin only to the extent that they both have long hair. These coins are typically called "Barber" halves after their designer Charles T. Barber. Please check your coin's date and design again and post a new question. Alternately you can enter the question "What is the value of a <date> US half dollar?" in the large box at the top of each page, where <date> is your coin's date.
