1894 Barber halves are about average in rarity for 19th-century coins in that series.

Look on the back to see if there's a small mint mark letter under the eagle. Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 02/2010:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $29

Moderately worn - $107

Slightly worn - $180

Almost no wear - $392

Uncirculated - $540 to $19,310 depending on quality

"O" mint mark (New Orleans):

Very worn condition - $23

Moderately worn - $90

Slightly worn - $162

Almost no wear - $394

Uncirculated - $570 to $34,450

"S" mint mark (San Francisco):

Very worn condition - $19

Moderately worn - $78

Slightly worn - $132

Almost no wear - $377

Uncirculated - $540 to $26,650
