The U.S. has never had an "M" mint mark. You're looking at the initials of the designer, Hermon A MacNeil.

The actual mint mark location is to the left of the date. Because you didn't mention a D or S I'm assuming the space is blank, meaning the coin was struck in Philadelphia. I'm also not sure what you mean by "good" condition. Numismatically, "Good" (capital G) actually refers to a coin that's quite worn. Moderate wear is described as Fine or Very Fine.

Retail prices as of 06/2008 for a 1927 Phila quarter are $5 in Good (= worn) condition, $7 in Fine, and $12 in Very Fine.

To clear things up, it's called a Standing Liberty quarter; until 1998 ALL quarters had an eagle on the back, and M isn't a mint mark, it's the initial of the coin's designer H. A. MacNeil.

Early Standing Liberty quarters had a design defect that caused their dates to wear off quickly. If your coin is missing its date it's only worth its metal value, about 1/5 of the current price of silver, which is highly variable.

If the date is visible please enter a new question in the form "What is the value of a (date) US quarter?" for a specific answer.

What is the value of a 1925 M US quarter?

There is no M mintmark, that is the designer's initial. The mintmark on your quarter will be above and to the left of the date. The "M" is not a mint mark, it's the monogram of the designer H. A. MacNiel. All 1925 quarters were struck in Philadelphia so they do not have mint marks. Other years may have a D or S near the date. Depending on wear, your quarter might retail for $5 to $18. - several things go into the value of a coin condition, mintmark, and mintage can effect the value greatly. There are some other details with the standing liberty that effect value but only when the coin is uncirculated. -Mint Marks for old coins were as follows: P - Philadelphia "Note if the coin has no mint mark its minted in Philadelphia as well" it just depended on the date. D - Denver (for all non gold coins) D - Dahlonega (gold only) C - Charlotte ( gold only) S - San Francisco CC - Carcon City O - New Orleans W - West Point I believe I've covered all the Mints past and present. One additional note your 1925 quarter was only minted in Philadelphia. I hope this info is helpful. R/ ANA Life Member

What is a m dime with the mint w and date of 1919 wroth?

The 'W' you see is the designer's monogram not a mintmark. If the coin has a mintmark it's on the reverse. 1919 is a common Mercury head dime with a $3.00-$5.00 value depending on grade.

What is the value of a 1929 US quarter that has a m?

The "M" is actually the designer's initials, the mintmark (if any) is found on the other edge on the left. No 1929 Standing Liberty Quarters are key dates, but high grade standing liberty quarters are worth a premium regardless of date. However, if your coin is worn, it is really only worth about $6-7 in silver melt.

What is the value of a 1925-M US quarter?

the "M" on the front of a Standing Liberty quarter is the monogram of the coin's designer rather than a mint mark. Please see the Related Question for more information.

How much is a silver quarter with an m stamped on it worth?

August 1, 2009 The US Mint has not issued a quarter with an "M" stamped on it. Probably what you have is a quarter that someone has put their initial on or marked it for some reason. With such a mark it has no numismatic value but is worth $2.52 for the silver it contains.

What is the value of a 1926 m liberty quarter?

For all Standing liberty quarters the "M" you see is not a mintmark, it's the designer H. A. MacNeil's monogram, a mintmark on this series of coins is located on the left side next to the last star at the bottom, across from the "M". Assuming the coin is circulated, the 1926 Standing Liberty quarter is a common date coin of the series. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. Most coins have seen heavy use and show a lot of wear. In general retail values for low grade coins are $8.00-$15.00, better grade are $20.00-$35.00 and coins showing almost no wear in the AU grades, run from $50.00-$110.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelry or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
