The Mazda WL motor is a turbo diesel, so there is no spark distributor or spark plugs to work with. Put the crankshaft pulley on TDC. Check that is is correct by checking that the mark on the FIP (Fuel injection pump) is pointing to the tab on the housing (approx 10 o clock). If it is at 4pm, the engine is out by 180 degrees. Now check that the indent on the camshaft pulley is at 12 o clock. Interesting to note that whilst the engine turns clockwise, the FIP and camshaft turns in the opposite direction.
