any plant tissue with water conducting cells which cause the hardening of plants.These cells are also involved in transporting other solutes from one part of the plant to another. for example the xylem which conducts water and ions and the phloem which conducts sugars .

The vascular system is the transport system of the plant. It consists of the xylem and phloem. Xylem carries water up from the roots and phloem carries sugar down to the roots.
