Merlin, because he helped Arthur gain the throne when his father died. Sadly, he lived until he was sure that Arthur could go on without him and died in a magic sealed cave. It was believed that he had a apprentice. His apprentice learned that Merlin knew the magic words for sealing the cave, but not unsealing the cave. So the apprentice tricked Merlin into believing that she wanted to look inside the cave but actually, she just wanted to seal Merlin in the cave and become the greatest magician in the world.

Arthur, Merlin and Mordred are my favorite! Arthur and Merlin are very funny and have fantastic chemistry like they could actually be friends (unlike him and Gwen :'( !!!!!!!!!!!!) and even though I know Mordred will kill Arthur, he is still adorable in a very dark way. Hahaa hope this helped!
The character of Merlin is often associated with Arthurian legends and medieval literature, but there is no historical evidence to prove the existence of an actual individual named Merlin. Whether Merlin was based on a real person or was purely a mythical figure remains unclear.

Well many people are still not certain whether it was a trance-like Morgana (in other words Nimeuh) or Morgana herself. I do though think that it is morgana trying to warn Merlin to be careful because she may of had another frightning dream like the one about arthur getting bitten from the creature which she did in the very same episode she warned Merlin in. She warned Arthur so now she probably was warning him because we know she cares for Merlin and Arthur. Basically, I really don't think it is Nimeuh because why would she warn Merlin about the dangers ahead. Hope this helped!
Sir Ector and some think Merlin raised him. Merlin did not raise Arthur. Merlin helped Uther quench his lust for Igraine and therefore conceive Arthur but for a price. Merlin told Uther he would help if Uther consented to give up the child that would be conceived in that union. Uther of course said yes--never mind what Igraine, the mother might feel, but this was a different time from ours! Merlin knew the child--Arthur--was special and assured Uther that the babe would be raised by a man of honor--Ector.
