A rat catcher
An English surname. Exact origin unknown but possibly an alternate spelling of the French "Ratten" for someone resembling a rat, or a professional rat catcher.
He calls him a "rat-catcher"; "Tybalt, thou rat-catcher, will you walk?". He also calls him "Prince of Cats" in act II Scene IV and "King of Cats" Act III Scene I. A cat is I suppose a rat-catcher so it boils down to the same thing.
In the Middle Ages there were no age requirements. Most child by age 7 were working and some were rat catchers.
