It is quite strong on its own in terms of Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS), but not as strong as some other metals such as iron, titanium and copper. Its not generally used on its own though, it is usually alloyed with other metals to improve their properties. One example is where it is alloyed with aluminum to make super alloys (Nickel aluminides). This high strength material is also heat resistant and corrosion resistant, making it an ideal candidate for compressor fans within a jet engine.
