yes you need to pull stereo out & you will see the fuse in the wiring harness. Do not have wiring harnesss in front of me but it was either the yellow or red wires. Just replaced my stereo.
Take the stereo out and check the wiring at the back harness. Make sure it is clean and tight.
if your not going to use the old factory stereo, take it apart and you will find that the circit board is labled where it plugs in. Or go to your nearest stereo shop and get a wiring harness for $20.
Go to Wal Mart or Autozone and buy the harness adapter kit. Wire the connector to your stereo, and then plug the connector in the factory stereo harness and you are done. Disconnect the brake lines and wiring harness from it and put the new one in. YOU will need to bleed the brakes after your done. Make sure to disconect the battery of the truck before you unplug the wiring harness
