The distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE
The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces towards the REAR

Firing order is usually 1-3-4-2. So start from the front of the pickup, going clockwise. (mine is a 1991 Mazda b2600i).

Looking at the 1991 Ford Ranger - 4.0 L V6 - engine wiring schematic in my Chilton repair manual , it shows ( ONE ) heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor
1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 The distributor rotor ( on the 2.9 L and 3.0 L ) turns CLOCKWISE The 4.0 L is EDIS ( Electronic Distributorless Ignition System )
For a Mercury / Ford 3.0 liter V6 engine : ( the distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE )
1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 same as the firing order
The 1991 BMW 520 distributor Can be found on the back side of the engine. The distributor Will be on the top of the engine.
find out which wires are supposed to go tohether and use trailer wiring connectors to connect them so that they are water proof
