Brake lights dead? Heres why!Two things to check: the wire that's connected to the brake master cylinder on the firewall. Is it connected securely? Trace its path down the firewall. Is it rubbing against any matal surface? Is it getting burned by the exhaust system? Is the wire good all the way back to the rear wiring loom where the light clusters are? A quick way to test , using a circuit tester, is to disconnect the wire from the master cylinder, and with the circuit tested in-circuit, connect the wire to the positive terminal of the battery. Lights work OK? Faulty switch on the master cylinder. Doesn't work? Check the light bulbs and all the connections in the back lights cluster.
