calcetines
in some places medias
Strangely enough, there is no word in Spanish to represent sock. To say socks in Spanish, you say "medias", but you cannot say "media" because media means 30, as in 2:30.
calcetines
Thogithi is the Kikuyu word for the English word socks.
The word most often used in Peru is "mallas" but I'm not convinced that's the right word. Perhaps "medias" but in some places that means socks. Some people use "medias pánties" to distinguish between socks and stockings.
Socks has one syllable.
sáb calcetines
tobilleras or tines
las zapatillas or las pantuflas (depending on where you are/from)
The word 'socks' is the plural of 'sock'. Therefore it takes a plural verb: 'The socks were torn.'
