Commercial pilots are pilots who get paid for flying. They hold at least a Commercial Pilots Licence and usually have more ratings eg an Instrument Rating that allow them to fly in cloud, at night or in bad weather etc. Commercial flying is a very broad arena that includes Passenger and Cargo Airlines, Charter flying, Executive flying etc
An aviator is a person who flies aircraft for pleasure or as a profession. The word is normally applied to pilots. As of 2006, just over 6% of certified pilots (both private and commercial) in the U.S. were women.

Simply, pilot flies airplanes and helicopters.
flies a plane :D ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A pilot does more than fly a plane, At the start of his shift he gathers all the route/weather information and a flight plan. He then briefs the crew on what will be happening and when they expect to take off and land and brief the crew on safety information regarding the route. The crew then go to the aircraft and one pilot starts up the Auxrillery power unit and get all the electricts on and the flight deck all lit up and enters all the way points and figures off the flight plan in to the flight managment system while the other pilot walks around the aircraft doing a pre flight inspection. The other pilot then joins the 2nd on the flight deck and helps with the run up checks, (its more than 1 switch to get the power on) and does all the operational checks. the pilots then give the go ahead for bording, and on many major airlines one pilot supervises bording, once all PAX's are on board the pilots denate the steps and ground services to clear the aircraft and they call ground control for clearence for puch back and start up, once started up they maintain contact with the groundm controller until at the runway they then in contact with the tower. This is an everyday occurance for me cause i am a pilot on a Embraier Legacy private jet in the UK.
Navy pilots are located aboard aircraft carriers and carry out the missions that are given to them. From scouting out a area, to dog fights, to bombing their ground objectives. Navy pilots are very demanding and to say the least, very cool.
They fly a plane and make sure it arrives at it's destination.

There are 104,322 commercial pilots in the U.S. and 152,933 airline transport pilots in the U.S. as of 2014. A commercial pilot license (CPL), is a qualification that permits the pilot of an aircraft to be paid for his/her work. The Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate is the highest level of aircraft pilot licence and authorizes the pilot to be a pilot on scheduled air carrier's aircraft (commercial airliners).
