According to the 2000 Mercury Sable owners manual : That's your check transaxle warning light ( located in the bottom / left of the tachometer ) A problem has been detected , shifting may be restricted ( if the warning light stays on , have your vehicle serviced immediately )
Sounds like the Hazard warning light. Check to see if they are on. Look in your owner's manual if you have one. If not, you need to get one. I have the same problem in my 2001. It is the Check Transaxle light. Most likely dealing with the transmission. Probably just low fluid.
That means that one of your exterior light bulbs has burned out ( the warning light is located in the bottom of your gauge cluster , towards the right side )
It depends on what indicator you are using. Yellow with the bromothymol blue indicator is acidic, yellow with the methyl orange indicator is basic, yellow with the phenol red indicator is acidic and yellow with the universal indicator is acidic.
Universal Indicator Yellow was created in 1993.
