This is a strange question.... In France, belive it or not, people go to school up to the age of 16 (obligatory). Parental education is still fairly strong ("old fashion values" still survive).
If the students do well on the entrance exam they are then admitted into secondary education, which is divided into 7-9 and 10- 12 years old.
