The ball drop... It starts its descent at 11:59 pm and ends at 12:00 am. No, the ball does not explode and is not on display after new year's day, as at 12:01am, the ball descend a bit more for it to be taken apart. There is so much more to see in Times Square that are available 24/7/365 and most of them have been improved from the blight of the 70s when all they had were drugs and sex shows. Mid town Manhattan has at night as many lighted billboards it makes it feel like the strip in Vegas. Just a very short walk is rock-a-feller centre where there is ice skating in season plat houses in the theatre district stores for shopping and stores for browsing television networks museums and much more than this space could cover have fun and let your feet decide where to go.
