what to do in Germany is unending. Munich historical sites. Nurenberg additional historical sites. Garmisch, just south of Munich. many quaint restaurants & hotels. No far from Garmisch is Oberammergau. German center for wood carvings and the passion play every 10 years (check your calender). If a tour, go to specific places & remain for a day or so. Don't take a tour where you are schedulted to VISIT 12 or 15 locations. You will be too tired to see much, too much rushing. slow down.......

Added Answer: (Maserati23) If you want my advice, stay away from the tourist sites like Munich and pretty much all of Bavaria(Bayern in German) and research through the internet all the various castles and cathedrals one can find by visiting western/central German cities and towns. Within 1.5 hours from my house is the magnificent Kölner Dom, or Cologne Cathedral as you might call it, where the bones of the Magi rest in a golden coffin at the back of the alter. It's the tallest cathedral in the world and you can climb up to the top if you dare. There is also a castle nearby where the German flag was "born." Learn your basic German and get a hotel outside the city to experience the quaintness of rural German life. The closer you are to natives the better your vacation will be as you get to experience Germany for what it really is, not some Bierstein-collecting nation of Lederhosen-wearing Bavarian-hillbillies who go yodelling even so it is more an Austrian tradition.
