ThinkPoint is a fake rogue anti-spyware program that is part of the Fake Microsoft Security Essentials infection. When this infection is installed on your computer it will display a fake Microsoft Security Essentials alert that states that it has detected an Unknown Win32/Trojan on your computer. It will then prompt you to scan your computer, which will start a fake scan of your computer. ThinkPoint will state that you need a heuristic program to fix the problems and it even offers to sell one for $99.90. Please don't purchase Think Point.

Use antimalware software, e.g. Malwarebytes Antimalware, SUPERAntispyware or Hitman Pro. These programs are free and should take care of the ThinkPoint virus.

What is ThinkPoint and how to remove it from your computer?

ThinkPoint is a fake anti-spyware application that pretends to scan your computer for malicious software and then deliberately reports false system security threats. It's distributed mostly through the use of fake online scanners and some other malicious websites, so clearly this program is not legit.

Is think point virus more dangerous than stuxnet virus?

Stuxnet virus is more dangerous than ThinkPoint malware. Stuxnet spies on and reprograms industrial systems, the first to include a programmable logic controller (PLC) rootkit, and the first to target critical industrial infrastructure. ThinkPoint is a rogue security program, it can't delete files from your computer or steal personal information.

What do you think of stopzilla?

I personally don't like STOPzilla. STOPzilla messed up my computer- big time. After downloading STOPzilla, I found that every time I got on, STOPzilla did a 10 minute scan.... where I couldn't acsess anything. It did this scan weathere I wanted it to or not. Also, STOPzilla, I believe, allowed viruses to be downloaded on my computer. A week after I downloaded STOPzilla, ThinkPoint, a supposed "cure" showed up without me downloading or buying anything. ThinkPoint made the internet unacseseble. After reaserch, I found that ThinkPoint was, infat, "let in" by STOPzilla. ThinPoink, a known virus, installed other virus "cures". For example: Antivirus Action ThinkPiont Version0.2 and other files. You can reaserch STOPzilla at other places, but you will only get how wonderful it is. IT IS NOT WONDERFUL. My mother had to do a complete recovery on my computer to get rid of Antivirus Action. And where did this come from? STOPzilla. I advise you not to download it.

Do you remove thinkpoint if yes how?

Download Malwarebytes Antimalware, SUPERAntispyware, Spybot or Hitman Pro and scan your computer. If the ThinkPoint infection will not allow you to access your desktop click on the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete button at the same time to bring up the Windows Task Manager. When the Task Manager starts, click on the Processes tab. Highlight hotfix.exe process, click on the End Process button. Now click on the File menu and select New Task (Run...) from the menu. Type explorer.exe into the Open: field and press the OK button. After a minute or so you should be back at your Windows desktop.

Which virus will work as legiminate Virus?

i think cleanthis virus,CleanThis is determined by Tee Support Labs as fake security software that updated from the notorious ThinkPoint. CleanThis has the same fake features as Thinkpoint,it usually spread via Trojan that can enters a computer without any permission and content. Once active, as Unknown/Win32 misleading alert will pop up at the desktop to scare innocents users. CleanThis is going to perform fake system scan and show lots of infections that are not existent at all.If you believe this, then CleanThis is going to scare you to buy its license to get rid of all the fake infections. Certainly, what you need to do is ignore the message of CleanThis. Since CleanThis has high risk for the system, you should remove CleanThis once it's detected on a computer.

How do you get rid of ThinkPoint virus on your computer?

When you first start your computer you will most likely be presented with the ThinkPoint start screen. When you see this screen, do not click on any of the buttons. Instead click on the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete button at the same time to bring up the Windows Task Manager. The best way to do this keyboard combination is to hold down the Ctrl and Alt key at the same time and then press the Delete key while holding the other buttons down. Once you do this, it will successfully launch the Task Manager or screen where you can select the Task Manager to be run. When the Task Manager starts, click on the Processes tab. When you are at the above screen, scroll down through the list of running processes and left-click once on the hotfix.exe process. Once the hotfix.exe process is higlighted, click on the End Process button. When you press this button, Windows will ask if you are sure you want to terminate the process. You should press the Yes button to terminate it.Now click on the File menu and select New Task (Run...). When the Create New Task prompt appears, type explorer.exe into the Open: field and press the OK button. After a minute or so you should be back at your Windows desktop.Download Malwarebytes, SUPERAntispyware or any other anti-spyware program and remove ThinkPoint virus from your computer.

How do you Remove ThinkPoint Virus?

If you've been lucky enough to get some spy-ware and cant get access to it ill paraphrase/ copy-and-paste:1. Restart your computer and before it launches Windows, start tapping '''"F8"''' key. Highlight '''"Safe Mode with Networking"''' with arrow keys and press '''ENTER'''.2.''' Press '''CTRL+SHIFT+ESC''' to start Task Manager. Check for the processes of Think-Point and stop them.3.''' Open '''Internet Explorer''', choose '''Tools''' menu and select '''Internet Options'''.4. Click on the '''Connections''' tab and then on the '''LAN Settings''' button. Uncheck the checkbox labeled '''Use a proxy server for your LAN''' under the Proxy Server section and press '''OK'''.5. Download [http://www.2-viruses.com/spdoc.exe Spyware Doctor] and run a full system scan. Delete files identified as infected.i had think-point and i downloaded a trial of nod32, and like i said above if you do have spy-ware get spy-bot Search & Destroy, its an anti-spyware, and scan with both nod32 and S&D and then immunize with S&D and you should be cool. i hope you can access all of this if not because of spyware, you should try for S&D first. i think you should be able to access S&D with a normal anti-virus search spyware runningoh and a big plus this is all free and a cool diy project.----Alternate removal procedure:1. Restart your computer. Once the ThinkPoint window comes press Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Escape. You should now see the Windows Task Manager screen as shown in the image below or a screen where you can select the Task Manager to be run.Click on the Processes tab. Then click and highlight hotfix.exe and click End Task. If it asks you "Are you sure you want to terminate the process?" click yes. This will close the ThinkPoint program.2. While in Windows Task Manager, click the File -> "New Task (Run...)" from the menu on the bottom right. Type in explorer.exe and click OK. Your desktop and icons should start up as normal.3. Run Internet Explorer or any other browser and download free anti-malware software.
