there are many variables in deciding the top speed of the kx250. such as gearing rider weight and performance mods, even the oil fuel ratio. but from my research the average top speed is 65-78 mph. now it is true you can put a 40 tooth rear and 15 front sprocket and get up to 130+ but you would loose all your bottom end power and have to have a pushing start. to get going.
with a stock rear sprocket u can hit 85 and with a 40 tooth rear sprocket it will hit 110 not 130+ and i know this because i have one. i have a 91 kx 250 and i raced a 78 gs 750 and i left him in 3rd gear and kept pullin away in every gear.
