A towing package is a provision made by the vehicle's manufacturer that slightly increases your vehicle's towing capacity over a similar vehicle w/out the package. For example: let's say a Dodge Caravan can tow 2000lbs without the package. If you add the package, it might be able to tow 3500lbs. These numbers aren't the actual capacities; therefore I was just using them as an example. A lot of times, a tow package consists of extra wiring harnesses, brake controllers, etc.
