Underground irrigation delivers water to gardens and lawns through buried hoses or pipes.
The most common underground irrigation systems are do-it-yourself types. They typically consist of standard variety looking garden hoses that you bascially bury under the ground. Professional landscapers can install for you and, they come in varying degrees of sophistication. Research based on your geographical area and a quick review of what you are intending to gain from the use (agricultural production? beautiful rose garden?) will lead you to the perfect underground irrigation system for your needs.
Examples of irrigation system are,Perennial irrigation (Dams)Direct irrigation (river canal irrigation)Storage irrigation (tanks and resevoirs)

A qanāt is a gently sloping underground channel to transport water from an aquifer or water well to the surface for irrigation and drinking.
Instead of an irrigation ditch, use an underground leaky pipe.
It really depends on your altitude and landscape. Barren, flat yards can function with either above or underground irrigation systems. Arid landscapes with little humidity will often produce better results using underground irrigation because you are adding essential elements from the "ground up",allowing the seeds or new growth to take what is required and leave damp reserves. Rolling hills or other uneven landscaping will fare just as well with above ground irrigation. Likewise, multiple species or plant types will likely thrive with above ground watering.
(An aquiclude is an impermeable water barrier underground) The formation of an aquiclude meant that there were no deep water sources for irrigation.
Problems are not common with underground irrigation; and in fact they are much less invasive and prone to damge than above ground systems. Typically, if you are frequently using the system and careful when digging around the area, the use will lubricate the system automatically and you can expect years of great service from an underground system. In areas of colder climates, it's a good idea to keep a small trickle of water through the system from time to time to prevent possible cracking or decay of the underground system in freezing weather. If vermin are common in the area, you may consider a pest control system around the underground irrigation source to prevent chewing or tampering of the lines from small animals. LIkewise, if you place the system close to plants or trees that tend to have deep roots or widely stretched roots, they can penetrate or clog the system. Choose your location to allow room for root growth. Other than these uncommon events; underground irrigation systems are very easy to ma
