Maths is used in the following areas :-

The signs all occupy one twelfth of the circle ie 30 degrees.

Astrology uses maths to calculate the aspects (angles) between planets. If two planets are 120 degrees apart (the circle divided by three) this is called a trine and is a favourable aspect. Similarly 3 is considered a favourable number in number symbolism. If they are 90 degrees apart (the circle divided by four) this is called a square and is a less easy aspect. Similarly 4 is considered a difficult number in number symbolism. Likewise an opposition is when two planets are 180 degrees apart. The circle divided by two.

Maths is also used in calculating the ascendant or rising sign. This is dependent on a persons latitude and longitude and time, ie place and time of birth.
