Italian cuisines are world famous for taste. I can't cook Italian food very well but I try to cook it. I get help from many online cooking guides. On a variety of sites, I have found that Italians use tomato, basil, celery, parsley, olive oil, and cheese in most of the dishes they make. This site is very authentic and always makes me hungry. http://www.flavorsandmemories.com/brodi.html

Italian herbs are used to make italian food. Though they're not specifically only for italian food, but if you have a container of "italian herbs" (rather than having things individually like oregano and basil) then it's useful for making most any italian food.

What Italian food did Romans eat?

The Romans ate mostly the seafoods that could be called Italian foods today. They did not have pasta or tomatoes which are the base for many of the foods that we consider "Italian". However the did eat many fresh fruits and vegetables which are still part of the Italian diet. Olives and olive oil was used by the Romans just as they are used today.
