Your distributer or your coil
It is the same as all Ford V6 engines : 1,4,2,5,3,6 Cyls 1-3 on against the firewall running from the front of the engine(close to the belts) to the back(close to the transmission) and cyls 4-6 run across the front of the engine in the same manner.
Firing Order: 3.9L (VIN A) 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 Standing in front of car facing engine: Left Bank Cyls: 1 2 3 4(no. 4 at rear of engine) Right Bank Cyls: 5 6 7 8(no. 8 at rear of engine)
it has 4 cylinders
bad plugs
They dont really mean anything, sometimes an R on the end of names means a sports bike. The only ones i can think that mean anything is the Honda VFR which is a V configure engine with 4 cyls and the VTR which is a V config but only 2 cyls which is a twin. most other names are for selling purposes, doesnt a GSX1000R sound better than XYZ1000L?
Only came with a 2.2 or 2.4-both 4 cyls.
You must be mistaken. My 1998 Toyota runs fine.
Firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 #1 cylinder is engine left front. Left engine bank cyls. are 1-3-5-7 Right are 2-4-6-8
Usual firing order of 4 cyls engines is 1 3 4 2
Firing order is 13726548. Cylinders 1,2,3,4 are to your left when facing the engine, cyls 5,6,7,8 are on your right. Turn engine over to top dead centre on #1 compression, put distributor in with rotor at about 8 o'clock. Rotation is anti-clockwise. Hope this helps.
This about as easy as it can be; on six cylinder engines it is at the right hand corner of the valve cover with a 1/2" vacuum hose attached to it. It just pulls out. On 4 cyls it is smack in the middle of the top of the engine. Looks the same, pulls right out.
You probably dont need the firing order. I am guessing you need the spark plug wire orientation. If I am right, I dont have a picture, but I think I can spell it out here. There are two coils on the engine. Each coil tower has two possible cylinders it might be used for, so you have to be careful not to cross them up. The coil that is on the passenger's side is for the 1,3,5,6 cyls, and the one on the driver's side is for the 2,4,7,8 cyls. You will have to look at the numbers on the coils and pick out the cyl that matches the one that coil is supposed to fire.
