NO WAY. It would have to be 8 to 10 inches long to touch anything in the engine.
It could be from the wrong grade of fuel if it does it when it's under load, timing off,wrong plugs, or carbon buildup.
EITHER the head or block still has a CRACK in IT or the Head Gasket is wrong or not torqued.OR it was OVERHEATED again - maybe because of a stuck thrmostat.
that rattling is your valve train . This is caused by a couple of things. 1. wrong octane gas 2. timing off,3. bad need of tune up.
