You probably have a cracked head gasket!!!!! You probably have a cracked head gasket!!!!! Check coolant to see if there is oil in the coolant this will prove it or if you have foam in coolant overflow check coolant resevior cap
The spring side faces the engine
The spring side goes toward the engine.
Bad thermostat, fans not working or coming on when they are supposed to, bad waterpump, bad radiator or radiator cap.
The unconnected hose is supposed to be unconnected. It is for overflow when the radiator overheats. You may not have a leak, it may be overheating because of cooling fan, thermostat, temp sending unit or something else. May just be overfull and running out when hot.
More than likely, the thermostat is stuck. The thermostat is a valve that is supposed to allow water from the radiator to flow through the engine block. As the temperature rises, the thermostat opens and water from the radiator flows through the engine block and draws off heat. If the thermostat is stuck closed, the water cannot flow, no matter how hot it gets. The pressure builds and the upper radiator hose can expand to a point. Eventually the hose will rupture. Have an experienced mechanic replace the thermostat and the hose.
there is supposed to be water in the radiator. your radiator is supposed to be evenly mix 50/50 with radiator fluid and water, preferably distilled water.
just because the thermostat is new doesnt make it good your supposed to boil it in water to see if it opens and closes so it may be bad. if your car is low on oil it will overheat also or start the car and watch the radiator hose it it collapses then the hose is clogged and the water isn't flowing right which will cause it to overheat.
Hi, I'll bet on one of three things water pump, thermostat, or blocked radiator and the first is the thermostat then the water pump. Those are wher I'd go first. Good luck and please post the answer. Steve H. *Thermostat on these vehicles are extremely suspect, as they tend to warp and fail if an engine overheats. Thbey are SUPPOSED to fail "open" however, they can easily fail partially open, presenting a flow restriction to a slowly turning water pump (idle), and provide insufficient cooling.
If you haven't replaced the thermostat, now would be a good time. If that's not it, check the impellers on the water pump. The temperature gage is supposed to rise to around mid level. If you mean it is getting hot, then Replace the thermostat. Also check the operation of the cooling fan and the water pump. Another possibility is that the cooling system needs to be bled. There may be air trapped in the system. another thing we often see with this era northstar is blown head gaskets.
A thermostat is supposed to maintain a constant temperature or temperature range in an area or for a device.
There is supposed to be an engine thermostat . Do you mean that someone has removed the engine thermostat ? What year of Ford Ranger and what year ?
Check the fans on the radiator of the 1993 E-150 Van. The fans are supposed to turn on when the engine need cooled after reaching a certain temperature. This is usually due when the car is idling at lights or driving at higher speeds.
