Buick LeSabre no matter what model comes standard with power steering.
Repair of the power steering comes in two types: fuses blown and more serious stuff. Fuses blow: incorrect jumping of the ION can result in the power steering fuses blowing. Depending on the model, you will have either 1x60 fuse, or 2x30 fuses under the hood in the fuse box. Replace and voila: power steering! Other more serious stuff: my Saturn, however, had the more serious stuff. It appeared to be a short in the steering column which would result in the steering going out with a quiet click whenever the wheel was held in a certain position. Unfortunately, that position was straight ahead. I contacted GM about this and they would not help. Service requires the replacement of the steering column, at about $1000.

Low power steering fluid or fluid pressure, due to a leak or component failure.
Saturn Ion from 03-07 has a electric power steering motor located under the steering wheel. The solution would be : 1. Check your fuse boxes for any bad fuses mini fuses inside your car ( panel is next to your right leg on the driver side under the radio) and or your maxi fuse under your hood ( where the red tab is on the black box). 2. If you checked your fuse boxes then the next thing you might need is Calipers for both sides on the front wheels even more so if you hear a grinding noise. Because you might have a brake drag ( when brake pads don't open all the way up) throwing your sensors off (check your brakes for uneven wear). 3. Last you just might need a new power steering motor.
All power steering systems use a pump on the front of the engine driven by a belt. This pump will have metal lines coming from it that connect to the steering box, or power rack that is near the steering column that comes out of the cabin.
