If it is a rear projection type it might be your bulb. Mine has a light that blinks on the front if there is a problem with the bulb. Some you can change yourself, some you cannot. Google your tv model with "bulb" and you can usually get the part number of the bulb you require. You may have to buy it on Ebay as a lot of older bulbs are no longer directly sold.
