First let your car idle until it gets warmed up then see if your fans are turning on when it gets to hot if not check your coolant temp. sensor, which makes your fans turn on when the car gets warm and if they dont it can cause the coolant boil over.

Why does water in the vehicle boils even after the ignition is turned off?

If the engine has been running and is hot, shutting off the ignition allows the water in the water jacket to continue to be heated. Therefore, until the engine cools down below boiling temperature, it will continue to heat the water. Boiling is prevented by a couple of things; anti-freeze (which raises the boiling temperature) and the radiator cap (because water boils at a higher temperature when under pressure). If your car is overheating, you should not remove the radiator cap (until the vehicle is cool), you can be severely burned as the pressure drops rapidly, boiling the liquid and forcing it out of the radiator!

Antifreeze container over heating 1994 Oldsmobile acheiva?

Your question sounds more like a statement! well so your coolant reservoir plastic tank has overheated and probably has hot steam shooting out of it.. this is probably due to either your thermostat getting stuck shut. but it is most likely your radiator has some sort of hole or leak. When the water in your radiator is sealed the water boils at a very high temperature wich is a good thing. but when the seal is gone the water boils at normal driving temperatures. check your radiator hoses and the radiator itself for any leaks.. good luck

Why is Car overheating and smells like sweet syrup?

The sweet smell is most probably from the glycol in the radiator. When there is a leak or the engine boils then the water/glycol mixture that finds it's way to hot engine parts will smell sweet. (Glycol is a sugar but it is poisonous DO NOT TASTE IT).

Mazda 323 radiator boils?

If you have Mazda 323 anywhere from 1994 - 1998 and the radiator starts to boil after running it for a couple of minutes, check if you temp goes higher than normal. If this is the case, this is most likely to do with your thermostat which is probably jammed shut which doesn't let the cooled water run through into your engine. When this happens the outlet of water from your engine is boiling the water which is jammed. Theres two water pipes connecting the radiator to the engine the lower pipe on the left is the outlet from your engine and the higher right side is the outlet into your engine. If you remove the higher right hand side pipe which is normally held on by a jubilee clip makesure your engine is cool. Undo the 3 bolts to the inlet which is connecting the radiator pipe to your engine and you will see your thermostat pop it off with a knife or a screwdriver. You should be able to pick up a thermostat for around £6. Replace with a new one, replace your inlet and your radiator pipe. Refill your radiator and your problem should be solved. Good Luck.

Do you use coolant or distilled water in a car radiator?

You can use almost any liquid in a radiator, but water is not the best choice. Water boils at 100 degrees (and your engine gets way hotter than that), also it freezes at zero degrees and in many places it gets colder than that.Engine Coolent is an additive that you add to water or replace the water in a radiator. Coolant raises the boiling temperature and lowers the freezing temperature so that your radiator will work in the widest possible circumstances.

Have recently replaced the water pump and thermostat and the 1996 astro still has problems overheating the coolant still boils Any ideas?

You need to make sure that your radiator fan is working properly. Some are fixed, some have a clutch that engages them when the engine heats up. Watch your fan when the engine is hot to see if it functions correctly.
