yes Try it there will be a switch that you can press inside the fridge, that will simulate the door closing.
You may have the main switch turned on for the light. If the main switch is on, closing the door will not result in the light going off.
If the door is ajar and light stays on, spray some WD40 into the latch. The door switch is probably stuck. Spray all doors then open and close a few times.
