In my fitness or my health magazine at home(i'm not home) it has this really long drawn out formula, but I think I have read a long time ago that it is your weight multiplied by 8 or close. I am sure your activity level and whether or not you are trying to lose weight is definitly a factor but I am not sure. try it. The 2,500 reccomended I know is not for everyone.
By reducing caloric intake, one would lose weight. By increasing caloric intake, you'd gain weight.
Caloric intake has a lot to do with the amount of physical activity a person participates in. If someone has a high caloric intake but they don't exercise or move a lot, they will gain weight.
