Many different types of spices were imported to Europe from Asia as a result of the Crusades. There was also gold and jade jewelry, and porcelain items like vases imported by Europe from Asia during this time.
The crusaders came back with new items, ideas, math, science, and a middle class began to form. Along with the plague the society had to change and the crusaders were free men. The combination of the two pulled Europe into the Renaissance.

As I am what could be considered an Eastern Woodland Native American. I believe the importance of the area was extremely important, because this was our home, it is where we lived with our families, it where we grew our crops, and hunted, fished and trapped for all of our needs. The woodlands provided everthing that we needed to survive. As member of the Algonquin Nation (Ottawa) it provided anything we could have ever wanted, transportation, (rivers). Protection from other nations, and later it provided us with barter and trade items with the Europeans who came later.
