There are history teachers in high school, college and community colleges. Museums specifically hire history majors. Of course there are many jobs that are open to any college graduate.

Is history a good major?

Not really, you won't get a job. Just simply saying "you won't get a job" isn't the whole story. While a bachelor's degree in history is pretty worthless, so are a lot of other bachelor's degrees (English, Philosophy, &Sociology among others) There are some scattered intern jobs, but to really be making money you have to further your education. If you are interested in grad school and/or teaching, you have options. Although the teaching field is struggling at the moment, it goes in cycles like most things and will improve in the near future. There will always be a demand for teachers, period. I'm a history major and have plans to further my education in grad school to study library science (which will more than likely get me a job) so no, it's not true that majoring in history won't get you a job. It's a flexible major and as such, your options are not cut & dry. It can require you to be a bit more creative with how you want to pursue a career and such. But if you're looking for a 4 year program that will get you a job right out of college, I wouldn't recommend history.
