There are degrees in adult training, but in the practical sense, you need three things. First, you need to know your subject very well and be able to remember when you knew nothing at all. Second, you need skills in organizing the information so that it can be learned and placed on paper--hopefully you also have the skills to use Word and any other graphic programs you would need to make the handout or brochure. Finally, you need to have excellent presentation skills--not just in lecture mode, but in being able to lead discussions, listen to students and manage classroom dynamics. A good organization for this occupation is ASTD.
