The Jewish prisoners performed whatever kind of forced labor their Nazi captors demanded. The work was menial and often difficult. It was meant to be humiliating and to wear down the prisoners, most of whom were being starved while expected to work outside in the extreme heat or extreme cold. Jewish prisoners were beaten if they did not dig trenches fast enough or lift enough heavy objects.

a quick list of a few:

cook + all of the other types of kitchen staff

lots of manual labour

gardening (sounds bizarre i know)

painting (+ decorating)

barracks duties (tidying/ cleaning)

tailor

barber

cobbler

musican (and actors and singers)

and then there were the jobs that dealt with death, all of these were done by the 'special squads'

some of the officers had house (+ garden) slaves, but these were generally not Jews.

The Jews were forced into many labors. Some were forced to be block guards and help the Germans weed out those who could not work, who were then sent off to be killed. Others sorted the clothing of the prisoners who had already been murdered, as well as shave the bodies, and pack the hair in bag to be sent back to Germany where they would be used to stuff mattresses. Yet others had the responsibility of calming the arriving Jews from transport as they ushered them to the gas chambers where afterwards they would have to pull the bodies from the gas chambers to the crematoria.

The camps camps had different types of forced labor. Some Jews were packers of foods and others sewed. Some sorted clothing for more than fifteen hours a day.
