From personal experience, I bought a mattress cover, alot of disinfectant, bombed the entire house and treated my entire body with a prescription lotion called Ovide. Washed everything that I could and dried the items in the dryer on High Heat setting. Heat is what they don't like, anything above 42 degrees will kill them so I highly recommend this for at least 20 to 60 minutes depending on how many items was put in at one time. A doctor told me to use hot water, but I personally think the dryer is best..at first I did try to wash everything in hot water but then realized I was just giving them a bath and my water and electricity bill climbed to high.

If you can afford to replace your entire bed that is best for the most part cause bedbugs will stay where you spend the most time, for it is human blood which they like, and of course your bed is the most used piece of furniture a person spends at least 6 to 8 hrs on.

Don't forget the couch, love seat and all other cloth items that has been used.

These little pesticide vampires are Very Hard to get rid of but do what you can. Most items needed to clean your home can be purchased from a family dollar and dollar general store. If you need to bomb your house then go to any hardware store to purchase them.

It can sometimes take up to 6 moths before getting rid of them completely, but good hygiene plays a big roll as well. Don't panick just using common sense and good cleaners can help you along. Granted you must stay on top of them in all the areas they could get and Please don't forget to treat your automoblie and Pets if you have them, your cats and dogs become their own personal taxie cabs sort of speak, an easy way to transport from one place to another.

Keeping your pets clean and treated with Advantage Plus and or Frontline Plus is a good option to consider if financially affordable.

I wish anyone having these issues the very best for it is a long and itchy experience, one which you will never forget for a lifetime.

The safest commonly available solution that will kill bed bugs is rubbing alcohol. You need to apply it to the bugs directly to kill them. However once you start seeing visible bugs the infestation is usually very bad.

I've never had bed bugs, but I would throw out the mattress. Putting a pesticide into your mattress might hurt you when you sleep on it later minimally or seriously. Also, the bugs might die in your bed and you won't be able to get them out-they will be embedded in the mattress.

Spray 90% alcohol on their nesting places. The alcohol will kill the living ones but not the unhatched eggs so spraying undilluted bleach will take care of the rest (the bleach will not kill the eggs but it will make them gtdo of their nest when they hatch) gtfo:get the f out. Do it at least every week.

Are bed bugs able to live alone?

Yes bedbugs "are able" to live alone although that is very unusual. But if just one or two bedbugs hatch or are otherwise brought into a home, and then if the male bedbugs have no opportunity to contact any female bedbugs, the few bedbugs may remain resident in that home alone for an indefinite period. During that time they will almost certainly have meals of the blood of any human or humans sleeping in a bed in that home for perhaps years. But even if the home is not lived in by any humans or animals for a prolonged period, bedbugs can still survive alone without feeding therein for a year or more, unless discovered and exterminated. But in most cases when bedbug eggs or live bedbugs first get into a residence there will be both male and female bedbugs in close proximity. So after a blood meal, and after being mounted by male bedbugs, the females will then lay eggs, e somewhere in or near the bed where the host sleeps. So after a week or so each batch of new eggs will hatch and hence new bedbug nymphs will be born. So the breeding will continue and multiply ad infinitum as the bedbug population gets larger and larger, until the infestation is discovered, dealt with and all the bedbugs and all their unhatched eggs are eventually destroyed.
