oxygen
The same air that you and I breathe.
A polar bear is a mammal and all mammals need air to breath.
The common black bear of the native American Alipne can have fingernails as long as seven kilometres, depending on the altitude and rate of deterioration in the air.
It breathes. Simple as that.
A viable habitat with food, air and water.
A polar bear would need to adjust a lot of things in order to survive in a desert. Without air conditioning, or millions of years to evolve, a polar bear would likely die in the new environment.
They look a pinkish grey when newborn. They don't have much hair then and don't have a full coat until around 2 months old. An adult polar bear's skin is black. The newborns' skin turns blacker with age, but at first the skin looks more grey with a hint of pink. The hair and fur is not white as it appears and each hair is hollow (the trapped air helps with insulation). The fur of a polar bear is colorless and can appear from white to light tan depending on the lighting.
