The Impala is a medium sized African antelope which is associated with the savanna-type eco-system and are found in Kenya, Tanzania, Swaziland, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola and Uganda.

There are two recognised sub-specie of Impala, the Common Impala (Aepyceros melampus melampus) and the much rarer Black-faced Impala (Aepyceros melampuspetersi).
It's a type of gazelle, pretty much like a small deer.
