The dressing should be changed every day if possible. After the first few days, when the wound has stopped bleeding and begun healing over, a dressing is probably not necessary.
Place a new emergency bandage over the top of the existing bandage
First you will need a bandage to put over the cut to prevent it from being infected. Use something which is known to disinfect, such as alcohol, and put it on the bandage or directly over the cut and then cover the affected area.
Typically, gauze bandage is placed over the wound.

If you Cast On 5 stitches .. then knit 3 of the 5 that you just cast on .. then yarn over ( this will make a stitch) .. then knit the next 2 stitches .. you will have 6 stitches instead of 5 stitches you cast on because you yarned over one .. you just read it differently then they meant .. after the word knit 2 replace the word"to" with " then you will have" 6 ..
