If the wing caps are green, it was probably a Painted Bunting. The head color is called blue, but I agree that it looks more purple.

Sounds like a red headed woodpecker to me.
Actually, I found a photo, and it's a downy woodpecker. This bird has just a patch of red on the back of his head.

This sounds suspiciously like an Osprey.
Bald eagles have a feathered, white head and a brown body. Vultures usually have featherless, bald heads and brown or black bodies.
A Roseate tern fits that description.
Blue bird
If the black is the crown of the head, and you can notice a patch of red under the tail when it takes off, it is a catbird.
I believe it is a Pine Grosbeak.
