Best Answer

hemoglobin

it contains Iron (Fe) which is why its important to get a source of iron in your diet

Each hemoglobin can carry 4 oxygen molecules-if oxygen was not bound in hemoglobin the blood would not be able to have a high enough saturation to supply tissues

Carbon dioxide does not use hemoglobin as much as oxygen and more carbon dioxide can be dissolved in the blood itself compared to oxygen

Also using the bicarbonate buffer CO2 is converted into HCO3- which can be even more dissolved in the blood than CO2 alone

What supplies oxygen and eliminates carbon dioxide from the blood stream?

Lungs and Lungs. Blood that contains carbon dioxide means it is lacking oxygen, and the carbon dioxide was put into the blood as a waste product by all the other organs. The blood then reaches the lungs and exchanges the carbon dioxide for oxygen. The now oxygen-rich blood is transported to the heart where it is pumped throughout the body, and the carbon dioxide is exhaled from the lungs.

Where does the heart pump blood low in oxygen and high in carbon dioxide?

The heart pumps blood low in oxygen and high in carbon dioxide to the lungs, where blood releases carbon dioxide and picks up oxygen.

What gases pass from the blood to the lungs?

blood takes oxygen and gives carbon dioxide to the lungs
