As a nurses assistant you will need a few tools; a watch with a second hand, A PEN, a pad of paper, tape measure for measuring height, sometimes you may need a good pair of scissors. As for clothing, OSHA has deemed crocs as a work place hazard a few years back(if you're giving a shower you have the potential to slip) however some places will let you wear closed toe , no hole crocs. As for me, I prefer tennis shoes, something comfortable with a good tread. Uniforms... Scrubs is the attire du jour!! Every hospital or nursing home is different when it comes to brand AND colors. Wait until you get the job and ask what color to get. Get a set of scrubs that a well fitting! Make sure you can move around ALOT in them. Make sure the pants fits!! Bend over and sqaut-- it you can see your booty crack- try a different brand scrub or size! Make sure the scrubs don't touch the floor! 1.) the floor is the germiest place! You don't want to track that through your house when you go home! 2.) YOU WILL GET YOUR FEET WET!! And if your pants are too long they will get soaked and you'll have the sloshy sound going on!------make your pen and watch APART of your uniform!! You will use it ALOT!! Oh and don't forget your NAME TAG or BADGE!! I gotta see who you are!! I want to be able to say " oh that sweet nurse aid, blah blah, is wonderful!"-- hope this was helpful!
