Almost any kind of contamination can be - but is usually unlikely. To be safe always get a sample analysed -don't guess.
mainly fertilizer and pesticides

Yes! Pure distilled water is an insulator. it is the minerals, alkali's and acids in the contaminates that determine the resistivity of water!
Well poisoning is when someone purposely contaminates wells or other water sources to cause sickness. One can contaminate a well by putting rotting chicken carcasses in the well, which has been done before.
Usually not, but have water tested for other contaminates that may need to be treated by other means. <><><> Depends on your well water. We have lived in two locations that well water was VERY "hard"- lot of dissolved minerals- mainly calcium- and a water softner was good to have. A good start, as suggested above- get your water tested, and see what you need- or don't need.
Reverse Osmosis water systems reduce a wide spectrum of drinking water contaminates. Below is a list of common water contaminates and the repective reduction levels reduced by RO systems.Minimal Reduction:VirusesPartial Reduction:AlgaeArsenicBacteriaChlorideCopperCryptoFluorideLeadMercuryNitratesSaltSulfatesComplete or Significant Reduction:BenzeneChlorinePesticidesRustTaste & Odor
If anything contaminates the water, it would really not be good to use. It would best if you boiled water you got out of a well you aren't certain about drinking from. The above contributor neglected to mention that boiling the water will not remove heavy metals or things like arsenic from well water.True, true. I did also neglected to mention it was safe to drink after boiling it. :)
It is probably best to drain and flush the tank.
contaminates
They dont really expire. they get damaged. by water or out side contaminates.
