there are actually 2 types of digestion:
1.) Mechanical - this is done by the stomach muscles and the teeth. It's like a machine, breaking down food.
2.) Chemical - this done by saliva (enzymes in the saliva, actually) and enzymes in the stomach. They (enzymes) are a type of molecule that breaks down food.
