The Germans invaded as many as 15 countries. First, they invaded the Rhineland, then Czechoslovakia, the Saarland, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, Yugoslavia, Greece, Libya, Crete, and a large part of the Soviet Union.

Poland was invaded & seized in September 1939 in the east. Denmark & Norway were invaded & seized in April 1940 in the north. In the west, the Germans invaded & seized the Netherlands (Holland), Belgium and Luxemburg as part of the attack on France in May 1940. In that way, the Germans were able to out-flank the French Maginot Defensive Line.

The Netherlands was the one of the ways Nazi Germany got into France. Do you now of the wall the French built, the Marginot line I believe it's called. This was a line of fortifications that was built in between France and Germany. The Germans got past this obstacle by using the same tatic they used in WWI, through what is considered the low countries. The Netherlands was apart of this. Another reason is because of Hitler's goal of world conquest.
