According to the BBC, Pippin is roughly the third generation bred from the original dog Benji who was found in a dog sanctuary in California and was himself a mongrel. However, my personal experience of dogs would suggest that there is almost certainly Bearded Collie in him or Tibetan Terrier as he resembles both of these breeds quite strongly. At the end of the day he is a mongrel, but probably with terrier and shepherd dog in his lines . Pippin also looks a little like a Lowchen. Emily Wood.
