The 2011 sonata does not have a timing belt. It has a timing chain. Both engines have timing chains. The timing belts were last used on the 2006 model.
Timing belts are usually only used for Overhead Cam Engines ( DOHC or SOHC). The Iron Duke is a overhead valve engine and not an over head cam engine. The Iron Duke has cam gears instead of a chain or a belt.
There are too many to list. As a rule of thumb, belts are used more often on OHC engines, and rarely on OHV engines. But chains are used on OHC engines, even engines that once used belts. The Honda 2.2 4 cylinder is an example. It used a belt up to 2002. After that is uses a chain. But Every manufacture uses chains and belts. Do you have a particular engine in mind? the 2009 Satun Aura XE
The only engine used in a Dodge vehicle that does not have a timing chain or belt would be the Cummins diesel. The Cummins diesel uses timing gears.
There are "v" belts, "serpentine" belts and "timing" belts.
According to the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) the 1.8 and the 1.9 liter four cylinder engines used in a 1995 Mercury Tracer are ( NON - INTERFERENCE engines )
The 1.9 liter and 1.8 liter four cylinder engines used in the 1993 Mercury Tracer are NON - INTERFERENCE engines according to the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera )
No , according to the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) the 2.0 liter ( SOHC and DOHC ) engines that are used in a 1999 Ford Escort are NOT INTERFERENCE ENGINES
There is two exact engine code engines. One engine commonly used in Australia in Rodeos is gear driven. Slightly earlier Isuzu MUs and Jackaroo's have timing belts. Both engines have the same code so can be confusing. Both engines can go in any model, so VINS can be useless when trying to get timing related parts.
2000 Honda has a timing belt its like a serpentine belt timing chains are used on some v 8 engines though most are the timing belts should be replaced every 40 thousand miles
Most older Honda engines have timing belts. However the Honda 2.4L engine used in the CRV since 2002 and in the Accord since 2003 has a timing CHAIN. Yes the 2007 CRV does have a timing chain and not a belt
On a 2003 Ford Focus : According to the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) It shows that the timing belt used on the 2.0 liter SOHC and DOHC engines should be inspected and replaced if necessary at 120,000 miles ( but it also shows that the engines are interference engines ) The 2.3 liter four cylinder in a 2003 Ford Focus has a timing CHAIN
