First of all, I would really advise you to stay far away from the eat-less diet. You will not only be unhealthy, but you might actually gain weight! The key to a diet is eating right and healthy. Yeah, yeah, that's what they all say, but it really works. Actually, for the past several weeks I've been trying to eat healthier. For each meal, I try to have one serving of: fruit, vegetables, dairy, wheat, and a little 100 calorie granola bar for a treat. An example of this might be my lunch today. I had a serving of mandarin Oranges, Ritz crackers, low fat vanilla yogurt, a cheese stick, and most important......a bottle of water! Oh, water is so good for you, and they refresh your body giving your skin and hair a healthy, vibrant appearance. If eating healthy isn't quite doing the job, the trick to losing weight is to lose more calories than you gain. So if you eat 3,000 calories a day, you could lose some of those calories by working out at the gym for an hour.

Anyway, to answer your question more directly, the healthiest food for a dieting person would be natural foods that aren't packaged. Fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, milk, water, and etc. are very healthy for your body, and will help lose that extra weight. I heavily suggest refraining from diets consisting of only fat-free foods. Cottage cheese for 3 meals a day will RUIN your body. Crash diets are also the great evil of dieting, and I promise you, if you starve yourself or crash diet you will gain weight! Just remember to stick to fresh, healthy foods and try to install a daily exercise program for yourself. Good luck!
